Frequently Asked Questions
What is Browzmi?
Browzmi is a place online where you can chat and surf the web together with your friends. Browzmi is a social browsing network and it operates like an online virtual web browser that you share with your friends and other Browzmi users.
We built Browzmi to make the web more fun. Before Browzmi, we were spending a lot of time online, poking around alone looking for interesting stuff. Now, we still spend a lot of time online, but we're there with our friends - surfing around, sharing, and discovering good stuff like we're there together. Just as it's more fun to go to the movies or concerts or the mall together, we think it's more fun to explore the web together.
How does Browzmi work?
Browzmi is the first social browsing network that does not require you to download and install any software. It's 100% web-based and you can "Start Browzing" from the Browzmi web site or from embeddable Browzmi widgets, such as the Browzmi Facebook application.
Browzmi is accessible from a web browser just like a typical web site. Once you sign into your Browzmi account, you can then type URLs into the Browzmi address bar and surf the web together with your friends within the Browzmi user interface.
What is required to use Browzmi?
Browzmi requires a high speed Internet connection. And Browzmi is compatible with Firefox 2+, Safari 3+ and Internet Explorer 7+ web browsers (we also hope it works in IE6).
Can I browse any website in Browzmi?
Our goal is to make it possible to visit any website in Browzmi with two primary exceptions. First, we do not support login to HTTPS secure sites unless we deem the site appropriate for visit in Browzmi and enable access. Second, we did not build Browzmi for accessing content that is inappropriate for our overall community of users and reserve the right to prohibit visits to such sites.
You may discover that some sites do not work as designed when visited in Browzmi. We're doing our best to increase our site compatibility, but similar to the efforts made by web site publishers to ensure site compatibility with the leading web browsers, we must work to achieve compatibility with the leading sites on the web. Please be patient as we work to improve our site compatibility.
To eliminate the page compatibility challenge described above, we recommend you install the Browzmi Homebase browser extension for Firefox 2 and 3. With Homebase installed, you will see improved surfing performance and all websites work like they should. This is because Homebase allows web surfing traffic to bypass our servers and flow directly to you.
Can people see where I am browsing in Browzmi?
We built Browzmi so you can chat and surf the web together with friends. So yes, your friends can see where you are browsing in Browzmi and you can see them. In addition, when you visit a website (domain) in Browzmi, you can see other Browzmi users also located on that particular domain and they can see you. So if you are looking for anonymous web surfing, Browzmi is not for you.
You can limit who can see your web browsing location in Browzmi to Friends Only. Adjust your privacy setting located on your user profile page from Public to Friends Only.
If you want to jump out of Browzmi to surf the web in private, you can simply sign off of Browzmi or use a new window or tab in your web browser. Browzmi only operates within the Browzmi.com website and does not know where you are browsing when you are outside our network.
How do I surf the web together with friends?
The Surf with Friends widget (located on the My Stuff tab) displays the web pages that you and your friends are currently visiting. As you and your friends surf the web, Browzmi will display the URLs that you are visiting in real-time. To follow a friend to a web page, click on the web page link where your friend is located and Browzmi will take you to that new location.
You and your friends must be mutual friends to appear in each other's Surf with Friends widget. You can become friends by visiting a user profile and choosing the Add to Friends button. The other user then needs to accept your friend request or select the same Add to Friends button for you.
On the Explore More tab, you will find the Where is Everyone widget, which displays other Browzmi users that are surfing the same website as you. Where is Everyone also displays the top visited websites at the moment, so you can find where other users are Browzing. Where is Everyone is a great place to chat and surf with new people when your friends are not online. If you do not want to be visible in the WIE widget, select the Friends Only privacy setting on your profile.
How do I find other people in Browzmi?
To find a friend in Browzmi, you can type a user name, city, country or interest into the Browzmi address bar and you will receive search results for registered Browzmi users that match your search query.
You can also make new friends in Browzmi. The best way to meet new people is to check out the Where is Everyone widget (located on the Explore More tab).
